If you are using linux, or prefer an CLI (command line) version of this program, written in python, you can get it here.
This program scans the mp3 files in the directories you give it, checks for artist & album information (in the mp3 tags), and retrives online album artwork files (stored as JPEG images) and puts them in the same place as the music files.
There is nothing to install, just put the GetArtwork.exe somewhere, and run it.
Notice: You need to have the Microsoft .NET 2 Framework installed in your computer for this program to work!
Using this program is very easy, simply run the GetArtwork.exe file, then enter the directory where you have your mp3 music (you can make it scan sub-directories as well). Then just click Go and wait.
You can stop the scan in the middle, also any errors will be shown in the list at the bottom. This program works currently with ID3v1 tags.
Since this is a very basic utility:
ONLY ERRORS WILL BE SHOWN IN THE LIST, WHAT IS OK WONT BE.
Just delete the GetArtwork.exe file, and you are done.
I am currently unaware of any bugs, but i'll be glad if you will contact me (change the email with @ in the middle) with anything your find, or with suggestions, ideas or anything else on your mind.
You can also leave a message for me regarding this program here on my YShout.
